Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Seeds & Systems, a space where I reflect on what it takes to cultivate resilience, regeneration, and resistance in our communities and ecosystems.
I’m Liza Welsh: a program coordinator, land use planner, and community organizer rooted in the belief that a livable future depends on nurturing the intricate connections between land, policy, technology, and creativity.
In this blog, you’ll find four main threads weaving through my writing:
🌿 Field Notes — Grounded stories and insights from the landscapes and projects I’m privileged to work with, from restored meadows to regulatory ridge lines.
📋 Policy in Practice — Approachable guides and reflections on political organizing, policy advocacy, and engagement in the systems that shape our world.
🎨 Art & Action — Explorations of how art and artists fit into movements for change and help us to imagine new ways to live and thrive.
🛠️ Tools & Tactics — Practical strategies, resources, and methods for advancing regenerative goals, from project management to land use permitting and beyond.
I’ll also offer a behind-the-scenes look at Net Zero BRC, Burning Man Project’s transition toward carbon neutrality.
Whether you’re a fellow practitioner, community organizer, artist, or simply curious about the work of building a better future, I hope these posts offer inspiration, clarity, and connection.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s plant seeds and grow new systems in the cracks of the old.
